Job Overview: A District business manager will play a crucial role in developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies specifically tailored for rural areas. The job involves understanding the unique characteristics of rural markets, including the socio-economic and cultural aspects, to effectively promote products and services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Concept Sales & Market Development
• Drive sales of innovative agricultural products and solutions within the assigned district.
• Create awareness and educate farmers about company offerings, ensuring value-based selling.
2. Farmer Onboarding & Engagement
• Identify, connect, and onboard farmers onto the company’s platform/products.
• Build long-term relationships through farmer meetings, demonstrations, and training programs.
• Act as the first point of contact for farmers, addressing queries and ensuring satisfaction.
3. Farmer Connect & Meetings
• Organize farmer meetings, field days, and awareness camps to showcase product benefits.
• Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and provide guidance on best farming practices.
4. Agri Input Sales
• Promote and sell agricultural inputs (seeds, fertilizers, crop protection, equipment, etc.).
• Ensure product availability, timely delivery, and after-sales support to farmers.
5. Channel Partner Onboarding & Management
• Identify, onboard, and manage local channel partners, distributors, and retailers.
• Strengthen the distribution network to improve product penetration.
• Build strong relationships with partners to ensure alignment with company goals.
6. Sales Target Achievement & Revenue Generation
• Meet monthly/quarterly/annual sales targets for the assigned territory.
• Monitor sales performance, analyze market trends, and drive initiatives to maximize revenue.
• Prepare and present regular performance reports to management.
7. Team Leadership & People Management
• Manage and guide a team of 2–3 executives or field staff.
• Allocate responsibilities, monitor performance, and ensure productivity.
• Provide training, motivation, and mentorship to team members.
8. Market Intelligence & Reporting
• Gather insights into competitor activities, farmer needs, and market potential.
• Provide regular updates and actionable inputs to the regional/business head.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualification:
• B.Sc. (Agriculture) mandatory
• MBA/PGDM in Agri-Business/Marketing/Sales preferred
Experience:
• 2–3 years of proven experience in EdTech, Agri Input Sales, or Agri Services
• Experience in handling local territory sales & operations
• Prior experience in managing small teams (minimum 2–3 members) is desirable
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong understanding of the local agricultural ecosystem & vendor landscape
• Ability to onboard and engage farmers, channel partners, and stakeholders effectively
• Agility to work in dynamic, fast-paced environments with result-oriented approach
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Ability to generate consistent revenue and meet sales targets
Other Requirements:
• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned district
• Proficiency in local language and working knowledge of English/Hindi
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at various levels.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Result-oriented mind-set with a track record of achieving targets.
